Our Board of Directors*

*All board member duties are spelled out in our bylaws. Board members do not receive compensation and perform their duties on an “as needed” basis.

Thomas Hess, President

Tom serves as the President and is a member of the board of directors. Tom is responsible for managing all aspects of the Global Higher Education strategic plan, including launch planning, fundraising campaign, social media and marketing, government relations, and advisory board selection. Tom is also accountable for advancing the major gifts program, which encompasses the successful identification, cultivation, solicitation, and retention of major gift and planned gift prospects.

Tom brings over 24 years of Executive Leadership in the global pharmaceutical industry. His diverse background includes executive level positions in sales leadership, operations, brand management, innovation, strategic planning and customer engagement marketing. Education: Tom was educated at Xavier University, University of Chicago Booth CMI and has his MBA with a focus in Global Business from Lake Forest Graduate School of Management. He is also obtained the designation of Hotchkiss Scholar.

Xavier University has played a large role in shaping Tom’s view of serving society by educating students to become rigorous and reflective; committed and compassionate individuals for and with others.

Rosemarie Molas, Vice President

Rose serves as the Vice President and is a member of the board of directors. In her VP role, she reports to the president and is responsible for the overall operational success of GHEO ensuring seamless team management and development, program delivery, and quality control and evaluation. She supports the president while ensuring alignment to GHEO’s mission and ensuring achievement of all major deliverables required to meet our goals.

Rose brings 25 years of experience as Information Technology Leader skilled in providing thought-leadership with a focus in executing global and speed-to-market strategies. She has a background serving the non-profit community in various positions. Education: Rose earned her B.S. in Computer Engineering, completed her M.S. in Information Technology, and is currently completing her MBA with a focus in Global Business from Lake Forest Graduate School of Management. She is also working on getting her Data Scientist Certification.

Amanda Ewertowski, Global Director Program Development

Amanda serves as our Corporate Development Director and is a member of the board of directors. She reports directly to our vice president and oversees all aspects of individual and corporate annual giving, planned gifts, and major gifts. She is an analytical thought leader with a customer-focused mindset who builds and sustains successful relationships with partners, vendors, and customers.

Amanda brings over 10 years of successful leadership experience in the Contract Management field. She is responsible for managing a $3.2 Billion dollar a year contract portfolio from end-to -end for Education, State & Local Government and Healthcare. Education: Amanda is a graduate of Texas A&M University, with a B.S. in Political Science. She also has her MBA from Lake Forest Graduate School of Management with a concentration in Organizational Behavior.

Craig Williamson, Global Director of Marketing & Communications

Craig serves as our Global Marketing and Communications Director and is a member of the board of directors. Reporting to the vice president, he will set and guide the strategy for all marketing and communications. He is responsible for delivering on GHEO’s organizational goals including brand development and the strategy and execution of all marketing campaigns and market presence.

Currently, Craig is a Program Manager at Walgreens Boots Alliance. He provides Program management support for the Integration Management Office including multiple divisions within Walgreen Co. In this capacity, he works directly with program and project leads to ensure operational and capital resources are being allocated properly and all targets are being met for the executive operating committee.

Craig brings over 20 years of successful leadership experience in Operations, Portfolio Management, Supplier Negotiation, Leadership Development, Marketing and Communications. Education: Craig received a B.S. from Northern Illinois University and his MBA from Lake Forest Graduate School of Management with a concentration in Global Marketing. He holds several other certifications in professional development including a PMP Certification and other certificates in leadership and executive programs.

Craig is passionate about social responsibility and looks for opportunities to support national and global causes that improve lives, strengthen economies and grow strong community leaders.

Nancy Gaston, Secretary

Nancy serves as our Secretary and is a member of the board of directors. Reporting to the President, she will be the custodian of the corporation’s records. This duty involves ensuring the organizational records are maintained according to law and are available upon request by authorized board members or executive management. This includes updating the organization’s bylaws and maintaining its articles of incorporation along with keeping accurate and up-to-date records of its membership, board minutes, financial reports and other important documents.

During her professional career, Nancy has been an active leader for a wide array of community organizations. As a member of the Board of Directors of the Northern Illinois Council on Alcoholism and Substance Abuse (NICASA), in 1993 she founded and led the NICASA Women’s Board to support fundraising efforts, encourage volunteerism and build relationships within the community, Within one year, the board expanded to 35 public and private sector members and raised over $20,000 in a single fundraising event for the agency which previously had been supported primarily by state and federal grants. The women’s board soon began to

routinely raise over $200,000 annually and currently conducts extremely successful capital campaigns. In recognition of her outstanding contributions, Nancy was presented the NICASA Board of Directors Award and the first Nancy Magee (Gaston) Women’s Board Award established in her name and given annually to an outstanding member of the NICASA Women’s Board.

In addition to NICASA, Nancy has been active in the United Way, YWCA, Navy League of the United States, the Allen, Texas Community Outreach Program and the Plano Symphony Guild. She has been the recipient of numerous honors for her community leadership including the United Way Community Spirit Award, YWCA Women of Achievement Award, President (George H.) Bush’s C-Flag, and has been a speaker and Guest of Honor at the U.S. Navy Great Lakes Recruit Graduation.

Education: Nancy attended the College of Lake County (Illinois) and Collin County Community College (Texas) and was a member of the Dean’s List. She received a certificate of Management Development from the University of Michigan School of Business. In 2006, she was issued Design and Utility Patents for her invention of a message board designed for use in the office cubicle environment.
